Podcast episode 562ish: Paul Myrehaug & Damonde Tschritter

Oh, the fun we had on this episode with old pals Paul Myrehaug and Damonde Tschritter. Former Vancouver resident Myrehaug now plies his trade based out of the south of France. He tells us about that lifestyle. Tschritter, the only Canadian to have won the Seattle International Comedy Competition (as he's quick to remind us), was on fire on this night, ripping into all of us with reckless abandon. Laughter abounds.

Have a listen below or, better yet, find us on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. And leave a review, why don't you? We need them.

Feb. 16: Paul Myrehaug & Damonde Tschritter

We've got a dynamic duo on the show tonight. It will mark Paul Myrehaug's third visit with us, but first in nine long years. The former Vancouverite is living now in... well, not Vancouver. We'll find out exactly where tonight. He and Damonde Tschritter, who still lives here, are in town for the annual Snowed In Comedy Tour, which has grown by leaps and bounds over the years. This is Tschritter's sixth time with us, the last coming in 2018.

We're on the air on CFRO at 11 pm here in Vancouver. Livestream us at coopradio.org or find us on the TuneIn Radio app if you don't have a radio or live outside the 604 area code.

Podcast episode 224ish: Paul Myrehaug

Facebook 'friends' of comic Paul Myrehaug recently were treated to a photo of Myrehaug's upper thigh sporting a giant raspberry. It's the hazards of riding a longboard when you're nearing 30. Shortly before that mishap, Myrehaug guested on What's So Funny? where he tempted fate by saying how safe longboards, the sedans of the skateboard world, were comparatively speaking. On this episode, the 2007 Great Canadian Laugh-Off $25,000 winner also itemized various other accidents he's had, why he'd circumcise his future son, and talks about entertaining American troops in Iraq. The guy lives on the edge, clearly.

Have a listen here or download it over on iTunes. While you're there, why not purchase Paul's very funny new(ish) CD, Bad Things Are Funny, or you could also get it on Amazon. (Which reminds me, we also discussed if he truly believes bad things are funny in light of the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami. So you can look forward to that scintillating discussion on the podcast, too.)

Mar. 13: Paul Myrehaug

It's been 2.5 years since Paul Myrehaug made his first visit to the What's So Funny? studios in Cracktown. The Vancouver transplant has since put out his first comedy album, Bad Things Are Funny (available on iTunes, as is his first appearance on this show). One track on that album is a clip from him playing a military show in Iraq. I'm not sure that particular bad thing is funny, but a good comedian can get laughs on any topic. Tonight, we'll catch up with Paul and play a few clips from his CD. Tune in (or livestream) at 11. And if you haven't yet, for God's sake put your clock ahead one hour already!

Are you jonesing for some new What's So Funny? podcasts? No? Tough, we got three new ones for you anyway. As always, you can listen to them right here, over at the Comedy Couch, on your favourite podcast server, or on iTunes. The third appearance of Darren Frost, from October 26, 2008:

The second appearance, but first solo appearance, of Erica Sigurdson, from November 2, 2008:

The people have spoken

You know, when we put this little blog together, we had no idea people would actually read it religiously. In the ocean of blogs on the internet, why should our humble offering stand out? I don't know, but apparently it's hit a bit of a chord with the masses if our survey is any indication. We asked how you, the reader, stumbled across this blog and you answered in spades. A whopping 66 percent of you admitted you followed a link to arrive on our page. Not only that, but 33 percent of you found us after we directed you here. What can we say? We are humbled. To know that 99 percent of you are not only regular readers but took the time to answer our survey, well, I'm tearing up. Look for more surveys in this space (or the space to the right, anyway). You have spoken. It's an awesome responsibility we face knowing so many of you are reading.

The show booked three more comics today. Kevin Foxx will be joining us the first Sunday in November, and Brett Martin on the 9th of November. And Patrick Maliha will be taking a break from CFUN to slum it with us on the 23rd. We had a great conversation with Paul Myrehaug last night. I'll let you know when the podcast gets uploaded in case you missed it. Next week is my Victoria homeboy, and current neighbour, Chris Molineux. Check out some of his videos in our margin and tune in on Sunday.

Hey, who wants to be the first to leave a comment? Don't be shy. It'll be historical. It's up to you whether it's hysterical.

Myrehaug: Oct. 5, 2008

I went to Yuk Yuk's this weekend and caught headliner Paul Myrehaug, who happens to be our guest on the radio show tonight. It wasn't until I checked out Paul's website earlier this week that I knew he had relocated to Vancouver from Toronto. Lucky for us. I should know those things, I suppose. Well, I do now. Paul won the Great Canadian Laugh-Off in 2007. With Graham Clark winning in 2008, doesn't that make Vancouver the comedy capital of Canada? I would think so. Myrehaug also finished second (to Vancouver's Damonde Tschritter) in the Seattle International Comedy Competition. Man, there's a lot of talent in this town.

So tune in tonight. All the info to find us is over there in the margin. I'll ask him what prompted his move from the centre of the universe. No doubt a woman was involved. That's usually how it works. We'll also play some clips from his CD. Meanwhile, check out some of his video clips over there in the right-hand margin.
