Here's a fun episode for you. It's Kyle Bottom's fourth visit with us, but his first in five years. He's a new man, having been married in the intervening years. We talk about his honeymoon in Japan, his obsession with toilets, impending fatherhood and vetoed baby names, his latest SiriusXM Top Comic experience, and what he's learning in radio school. Plus he wasn't the only baritone on the air on this night.

We're on the air, as usual, at 11 pm on CFRO 100.5 FM. If you're in Japan, even, you can listen by livestreaming us at coopradio.org or finding us on whatever radio app you happen to use. Something like TuneIn Radio works, I know that.

Podcast episode 347ish: Kyle Bottom
Remember when Kyle Bottom was a mainstay on the Vancouver comedy scene? Ah, those were the days. But he's gone now. Off living the good life in Toronto. He spent part of his last Sunday in town in the What's So Funny? studios. In fact, he was our very last guest in our old studio. Fitting. In this episode, the Villain (as he likes to refer to himself) talks about anime and his role in it as well as his love of movie soundtracks.

Podcast episode 319ish: Kyle Bottom
Here's a late one for you. But it's brand-spanking new if you never heard the radio episode. We recorded this one back in June but it's just now seeing the light of day in the podcast realm. Kyle Bottom made his solo debut on the show. We relived the time I busted his balls, he talks about doing a victory dance in front of Pete Holmes, discusses the horror set that led him to take a break from stand-up for 3.5 years, and he dreams about an all-heckle comedy show.

June 23: Kyle Bottom
Tonight Kyle Bottom makes his solo debut on What's So Funny? His first time through, back in 2011, I had a special guest co-host in Scott McLean. But we're going mano-a-mano this time. You ever wonder how I book guests? This is how tonight's episode came about. I was at the Comedy MIX last night, where Kyle, along with Ivan Decker, advanced in a Sirius Radio comedy competition. I walk outside after the show where I bump into Kyle. We talk a bit and he casually says I should have him on the show again. Turns out I had no guest this week and he's available, so here we are. He'll bring his booming voice to the studio and we'll get started around 11 pm at 100.5 FM. Won't you join us? I mean, tune in. Don't come down to the studio. We have limited microphones.

Podcast episode 229ish: Kyle Bottom with Scott McLean
It's Sunday and as promised last week's episode has dropped, as they say in the podcasting business. Since tonight's live show radio-side is guest-free, and we don't podcast our guestless shows, you can savour this one for two weeks.
Special co-host Scott McLean talked about his extensive and expensive experience with Paul F. Tompkins on the Pod F. Tompkast and Kyle Bottom recounted his childhood traumas and told us why he thinks David Suzuki is a jerk. And there were a few other nuggets along the way.
Stream it here or download the episode at iTunes. In fact, why don't you subscribe to us there? It's free. You know you want to. So just do it.

Apr. 17: Kyle Bottom with special guest co-host Scott McLean
Tonight's show came about because of Paul F. Tompkins. Indirectly. Let me explain:
A few weeks ago I was listening to one of the funniest podcasts out there: the Pod F. Tompkast. Sitting in with Paul was a Vancouverite by the name of Scott McLean. McLean paid a thousand bucks (U.S.) to charity for the honour of hanging with Tompkins at his studio. And he acquitted himself quite nicely. So I thought I'd track him down and ask him to come on What's So Funny? – at no charge to him at all. He's a big comedy fan so I even let him choose the guest. He'll tell us about his experience on the Tompkast and what Tompkins is really like, and then Scott and I will grill our guest Kyle Bottom.
I'd been meaning to invite the baritone-voiced Bottom on the show for some time but never got around to it so it was great that Scott chose him. I last saw the baritone-voiced Bottom in a local comedy competition, where he advanced all the way to the final. That's the extent of my knowledge of him, though. We met briefly once (maybe twice) but we've never really talked. There was one brief exchange a couple of months ago, which I'm sure we'll talk about. While the Pod F. Tompkast was responsible for this episode, we may invoke some WTF with Marc Maron to start off the show when I apologize to Kyle for that meeting. Awkwardness!
