We're back with another episode to get you (and us) through our social isolation. We talked to old pal Marcus Ryan all the way down in Wonthaggi. Where? Google it. It looks lovely. Marcus has been with us four times previous to this one, in 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015. Seems we forgot we were working on an every-other-year thing. He is a comedian and world traveller. I mean, in normal times. These days he's at home for longer than he has been at any one time in the past 17 years. We talk about what that's like, what his part of the world is like these days, adventures he's had in the 60-odd countries he's visited. There's also talk about snooker and jailbirds.

We've got another itinerant episode in the car with an itinerant standup comedian. Marcus Ryan hails from the land down under but spends his time in various countries all over the globe. Every couple of years he finds himself in Vancouver and we always welcome him to the show. In this episode, Marcus explains the terrifying insects and reptiles of his home and native land, talks about his one-man Edmonton Fringe show called Love Me Tinder, complains about the unrelenting heat of Vancouver summers, regales us with a harrowing tale of hitchhiking in Ucluelet, sings the praises of Burning Man, and second-guesses his merchandizing strategy. July 12: Marcus Ryan

Tonight we go for a ride with Marcus Ryan. Whenever the Aussie is in town, he joins us on the program. This is his fourth appearance, but first in the Comedy Cab. Marcus is a true itinerant, moving around the world from place to place, hardly spending any time in his home town of Wonthaggi, southeast of Melbourne. I love that name, Wonthaggi, and use it at any opportunity but it doesn't even crack the list of top 10 funny names of places in Victoria, let alone the whole of Australia. Anyway, he'll be putting on his one-man show, Love Me Tinder, at the Edmonton Fringe this summer so look for it if you're around those parts.

The much-travelled one tells us about Guatemalan bus trips, I troll his tweets, and we discuss a career path for him that will put Rick Steeves out of business.

Apr. 28: Marcus Ryan

Our old mate Marcus Ryan drops by tonight for his third appearance on What's So Funny? I'd say Vancouver is a second home for the Aussie comic but it's probably more like the 40th. The guy is a real vagabond. I know he's toured in over 40 countries and I believe he's performed in most of them. We'll find out where his latest travels have taken him. And if we run out of topics, there's always the old standby: Rolf Harris!

For episode 246ish, we go back in time, to two weeks before episode 245ish. It was a simpler time. And for that reason we felt we should release it after the later one. Does this make any sense? Didn't think so.

Aussie Marcus Ryan made his second visit to the What's So Funny? studio. The itinerant stand-up comic found his way back to our shores after a 2.5-year absence. We talked about a rather happy 3-hour performance in Phnom Penh, rude Canadians, what it means to do shows in Vegas, and, of course, our mutual reverence of the inimitable legend that is Rolf Harris.

Come on, admit it, you love the Aussie accent, right? Who doesn't? Tonight is your night because we have, direct from Down Under, Marcus Ryan. Marcus has been with us once before, back in early 2009. I have little memory of that show but I do recall somewhere along the way I noticed he looked a lot like Norm MacDonald. So there's that. You won't see that on the radio, but he's playing around town so go check him out. He'll inform us of the whereabouts tonight, I'm sure. And we'll talk of his latest travels throughout southeast Asia and plenty more. I notice his Facebook page now says he lives here, so we'll find out about that, too. So tune in tonight. Same time, same channel.

January 4: Marcus Ryan

After a couple weeks off, we've got a new show for you. With a new guest. I guess that's why they call it New Years. Our guest tonight, Marcus Ryan, hails (that's the appropriate weather term for today) from the great continent/country of Australia. Where, exactly, we'll find out. And maybe I'll get an answer to how it can be both a continent and a country. I've never understood that. If you don't speak Aussi, not to worry, mates. I have years of ESL teaching experience and we should be able to work our way through any miscommunication.
