Podcast episode 289ish: The Comic Strippers

Take off your shirt and enjoy an hour of conversation with the Comic Strippers. Roman "Chip" Danylo, Ken "Chip" Lawson and Chris "Chip" Casillan talk about their goof on male strippers. But it's not all Ping-Pong balls and shower scenes. They also reflect on what Labour Day means to them. It may very well be the last episode Lawson makes, or the last anyone sees of him as he reveals he's off to Prague for a very sketchy job.

Have a naked gander right here or download the episode at iTunes.

Sept. 2: Roman Danylo, Ken Lawson, Chris Casillan

Roman Danylo doesn't like being alone. That much is clear now. Last week was his first ever solo appearance on What's So Funny? He'd been on a few times before, but always with his improv buddies. Well, if you tuned in last week, you'll know he pulled the plug on the episode. We were about 20 minutes into our illuminating chat when the power went out. That's the kind of tricks Danylo will apparently resort to in order to deflect probing questions. He must have alerted one of his cronies, who then took down a power line.

He's back this week but with his requisite friends. Joining Danylo will be Ken Lawson (top left in photo) and Chris Casillan (bottom left). All three are members of the Comic Strippers, whose next show is this Friday at 11:15 at the Improv Centre on Granville Island. Hopefully the two extra bodies will help Danylo (bottom right) feel comfortable. I'm sure their presence will bring enough electricity to the studio that we'll be able to stay on the air for the whole hour.

Aug. 26: Roman Danylo

Roman Danylo, right, gives a private show tonight
Comedy triple-threat Roman Danylo makes his return appearance to What's So Funny? tonight. Only this time, he's on his own. The star of TV's Comedy Inc. does it all – improv, sketch, and stand-up. Now add to the list: stripping. Well, sort of. Danylo's latest brainstorm is a six-person shirtless combo called Comedy Strippers, which runs monthly at the Improv Centre on Granville Island. It's as silly – and funny – as it sounds. Six guys named Chip prancing around the stage wearing tight black pants and a bow tie putting on a comedy show. Wrap your head around that! He'll explain it all tonight. So tune in to CFRO 102.7 FM at 11 pm in Vancouver or livestream it at coopradio.org.

April 26: Urban Improv

I'm slowly catching up to technology. Today is our very first ever vlog. I'm not even happy with the term 'blog', so you can imagine what I think of 'vlog'. But it might be worth doing on occasion.

Eric Fell dropped by the What's So Funny? Skype studio to plug his cherry-breaking appearance tomorrow night. We chat. You can see us. It's a first for us:

So to recap: We have a record-breaking number of guests in studio tomorrow night. They include Eric Fell, Roman Danylo, Diana Frances, Ian Boothby, Shaun Stewart, Jennifer Perrin and Andrew Barber. And maybe more. Seven guests, three microphones. You do the math. Should be fun.

(Shortly after hanging up the computer with Eric, fellow Urban Improv'er Drew McCreadie gave us a dingle all the way from Toronto. That video will run sometime next week.)
