Just flew in from Ontario and boy are my set-ups hackneyed. Anyway, a bit late with this. But as jet-lagged as I am, we still have live guests this evening. And I'm looking forward to them. They've only visited us once before and that was way back in '06. I recently took out-of-town friends to the Giggle Dam out in quaint Port Coquitlam and I said to myself, "I need to have Mark Friebe and Sheila Sharma on the show again." Then I said it to them and they agreed. So here we are. If you're not familiar with the Giggle Dam, it's dinner theatre that doesn't quit. The crew down there entertains from the minute you walk in the door until after the show is over. The hardest-working people in all of... Port Coquitlam, at least, anyway. Maybe all of show business. Anyway, it's a ton a fun and you should check them out.
Tune in tonight to CFRO 100.5 FM in Vancouver or online at coopradio.org to get an even better sense of what it is they do.

Podcast episode 399ish: Ian Boothby & David Dedrick
Fans of the Sneaky Dragon podcast, this is like a bonus episode for you. Ian Boothby and David Dedrick are in studio to talk all about their three podcasts. The mothership is Sneaky Dragon, a free-ranging catch-all featuring the two of them and sometimes a guest. Then there was Compleatly Beatles, which is really compleat now but definitely worth a listen as they discuss every single Beatles song and album and piece of minutia. And the most recently finished Totally Tintin about that lovable Belgian imp. We talk about all of these – and more!

Sept. 20: Andy Cañete
Fresh off his Fringe Fest run on Porn and Pinochet, we've got Andy Cañete in studio tonight. He gave his last performance at the Vancouver Fringe last night and he's here to tell us all about it tonight. Cañete's been on the standup scene for several years now and he took some of those routines and formed them into a one-man show about growing up a Chilean in Canada and a Canadian in Chile, spending large chunks of his childhood in both places. I wonder if he'll show up in the body paint. Here's hoping!
We're on the air at 11 pm at 100.5 FM in Vancouver, or livestream us at coopradio.org.

Podcast episode 398ish: Janice Bannister
This episode has been out for a couple weeks. I figured it's about time to announce it. Our guest is Janice Bannister, who was making her second appearance on What's So Funny? And both times, the regular host (that'd be me, Guy MacPherson) has not been there. The first time, the guest host was Graham Clark. This time she got the Colleen Brow treatment. I hope Janice doesn't get a complex! The two ladies talk about Bannister's multi-faceted career, from writing to producing to teaching to public speaking to performing.
Listen in right here by clicking the gizmo below. If you don't see it, don't panic. It's just your browser. You can always head over to iTunes or Stitcher or wherever you get your podcasts and get it there. We're everywhere.

Sept. 13: Lauren McGibbon
I'm a little late getting this posted, but we do have a live guest tonight. And a first-timer, too! Lauren McGibbon does improv, sketch and standup comedy. A veritable triple threat. Maybe she's got other talents I don't know about. We'll surely find out tonight.
That's it! Short but sweet, just like Lauren. Actually, she's not all that short. She's average-heighted and sweet. Tune in to Co-op radio tonight at 11 pm and get the low-down. You can livestream us at coopradio.org, if you'd rather. Or use TunedIn or whatever other means you have of listening.

Sept. 6: Ian Boothby & David Dedrick
Welcome to the first post of our new url. Same old blog but I thought it was time to lose the old address which incorporated CFRO's old frequency. The former cumbersome address was wsf1027fm.blogspot.ca but we moved from 102.7 FM more than a year ago. Now we're just whatssofunnypod.blogspot.ca. Not sure if that's any easier. And it doesn't help that if you do a Google search for "What's So Funny? podcast" it sends you to the old address. Oh well. In time, I guess, it'll change, too.
Meanwhile, we've got a show to do! It's our back to school special with Ian Boothby and David Dedrick. Boothby, of course, is no newcomer to the show. My records show he has been a guest four times (interestingly, he's never come on by himself – I think he's afraid of me) and a guest host once. Dedrick, on the other hand, is a newbie. Never met the guy myself even. The two of them host the popular Sneaky Dragon podcast. They're doing their 200th episode live at Skinny Fat Jack's next Saturday (Sept. 12).
Tune in tonight to find out all about it. We might talk improv, Beatles and Tintin, too. Who knows? We're on the air at 11 pm Vancouver time on CFRO 100.5 FM. You can livestream us coopradio.org if you'd rather.
